Product details

Casa De Folklore Pisces Ripple Large Serving Plate 25cm.

A beautifully handcrafted piece designed to bring both meaning and artistry to the table.

Shaped with a gentle curve and finished with a signature ripple edge, this striking plate is glazed in a rich cobalt blue and adorned with a traditional fish motif. Perfect for serving mains, pasta or shared dishes, it’s equally at home displayed as a decorative object.

Rooted in Romanian folklore, the fish symbol represents abundance, renewal and good fortune, a quiet layer of symbolism woven into everyday use.

Discreet holes on the reverse allow the plate to be hung on the wall, making it as much a piece of art as it is functional tableware.

What We Love

It’s the balance of function and story, something you can use daily, yet still feels special every time you reach for it. The ripple edge catches the light beautifully, and the symbolism behind the fish adds a deeper sense of intention to the piece.

Meet the Artisan

Made in Vâlcea County, Romania, these plates honour the centuries-old tradition of Horezu pottery, a craft recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Each piece is created in a small home atelier using techniques passed down through generations. Natural pigments, derived from minerals and clays, are carefully applied using traditional tools including cow horns and fine wooden sticks in a process known as jirăvirea.

Every plate is thrown, shaped and decorated entirely by hand, carrying with it the heritage, skill and rhythm of the maker. What you hold is not just tableware, but a living continuation of Romanian craft.
