Product details

Casa De Folklore Dara Horezu Side Bowl.

The Dara Side Bowl brings a bold, joyful energy to the table, rooted in traditional Romanian craftsmanship. Each piece is hand-thrown and hand-painted in Horezu using time-honoured techniques, resulting in a richly marbled pattern across terracotta, green, yellow and blue tones.

Perfectly sized for dips, olives or small side dishes, it’s a piece that adds warmth and character to everyday moments. No two are the same, making each bowl a small but meaningful expression of heritage and craft.

What We Love

We love the balance of tradition and playfulness in this piece. The colours feel expressive yet grounded, and the hand-painted marbling gives it a real sense of movement and life.

It’s the kind of bowl that elevates even the simplest table, whether layered with other ceramics or standing alone. Small, practical, but full of personality.

From the Maker

Handmade in Vâlcea County, Romania, these bowls are created by artisans who have been practising Horezu pottery since childhood. Working from their home atelier, they use locally sourced clays and natural mineral pigments to bring each piece to life.

The decoration is applied using a traditional technique called “jirăvirea”, where tools such as cow horns and fine wooden sticks are used to create intricate patterns. Each bowl is shaped on a simple kick wheel and finished by hand, carrying forward generations of knowledge, care and cultural heritage.
