What We Love
We love the simplicity of this piece, it feels clean and considered while still holding all the character of something handmade. The soft white glaze makes it incredibly versatile, pairing effortlessly with other ceramics or standing alone.
The fact it can be both used and displayed makes it feel more like an object than just tableware, something to live with, not just use.
From The Maker
Handcrafted in Vâlcea County, Romania, this plate is made by artisans who continue the centuries-old tradition of Horezu pottery, recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Working from their home ateliers, each piece is thrown and shaped by hand before being decorated using natural pigments made from local minerals and clays. The decoration is applied through a traditional technique known as jirăvirea, using tools such as cow horns and fine wooden sticks.
Every plate carries generations of knowledge and cultural heritage, resulting in a piece that is not only functional, but a lasting expression of Romanian craftsmanship.
