Description
This Thing is String’s Chilli Christmas Tree Topper is a handmade Christmas decoration crafted from French-knitted natural cotton string and hand-sculpted wire. A playful alternative to a traditional star or angel, it’s made for chilli lovers and anyone who likes their festive decorating a little unconventional.
The chilli measures approximately 18 × 6 × 1cm, with a total length of 25cm including the fixing coil. It works well on large Christmas trees or as a statement piece on medium-sized trees.
What we love
- An unusual chilli tree topper that brings a little spice to Christmas decorating.
- Handmade using natural cotton string from James Lever in Bolton, a UK twine manufacturer since 1870.
- Hand-dyed string, with subtle colour variations and flecks that make each piece individual.
- A wire fixing coil that twists around the tree’s top branch.
- Plastic-free, with minimal packaging.
From the maker
“The perfect tree topper for anyone who loves chillies, embraces the unconventional, or both.”
The maker offers two fixing coil sizes: a standard 1cm-diameter coil for most real trees and narrower artificial trees, and a wider 2cm-diameter coil for fuller or larger artificial trees.
To attach the topper, gently twist the wire coil around the leader branch at the top of your tree, as though plaiting the two together.
The cotton string is hand-dyed, so colours may vary slightly between batches and from the photographs. Slight flecks are part of the natural string’s character. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, which may cause dyed colours to fade.
Each chilli is handmade, so measurements are approximate. The maker states that all materials can be reused, composted or widely recycled.
