From the maker
Sarah Daly is a musician and ceramicist, born in London and now based in Cliftonville, Margate. Alongside playing in indie band Scanners with her partner Mat and composing music and sound design for film and television, she makes functional ceramics in her home studio.
Inspired by the coastal horizons around Margate, Sarah works with simple angular forms and horizontal lines, carved into the clay or painted by hand. She uses a range of clays, from white to dark brown, exploring how they change the colours of her oxides and underglazes. Some of her glazes also incorporate wood ash from nearby Blean Wood.
