Traditional Romanian Folk Egg Easter Ornament
Red, Black, Yellow & White Hand-Painted Design
A delicate heirloom rooted in centuries of Eastern European tradition, this hand-painted Romanian egg is a celebration of craft, symbolism and story.
Lightweight yet intricately detailed, each hollow egg is created using the ancient wax-resist technique known as ouă încondeiate. Fine lines of melted wax are applied by hand before layers of dye reveal complex geometric and folkloric motifs, symbols of protection, fertility, renewal and the return of light.
No two are ever the same. Each piece carries its own rhythm, variation and character, honouring the human hand behind its making.
Perfect for Easter trees, seasonal styling, or year-round interiors that value meaningful, handcrafted objects.

What We Love
We’re drawn to the depth of meaning in these pieces — every line, symbol and colour tells a story passed down through generations. They feel both decorative and deeply personal, like holding a small piece of history in your hands.
From the Maker
Founded by textile designer Alice Munteanu, CASA DE FOLKLORE brings together a carefully curated collection of artisanal pieces, each with a strong identity and a place within the home.
Born and raised in Romania, Alice moved to the UK at eleven and has spent her life staying closely connected to her heritage. From her grandmother’s handwoven rugs to the clay and wooden objects she grew up with, these pieces have always been part of her world — holding memory, culture and a sense of belonging.
CASA DE FOLKLORE was created to protect and celebrate traditional craftsmanship, working directly with artisans to keep these skills alive for future generations. Every piece is sourced straight from the maker’s workshop, chosen not only for its beauty but for the care, time and story behind it.
No two pieces are ever identical, each one reflects its journey from raw, natural materials through skilled hands, into your home.
