A beautifully soft and fuzzy handmade wide scarf by Yorkshire-based textile designer Millicent Sanders.

Generously proportioned for wrapping, layering and keeping seriously cosy, the wider shape makes this a wonderfully tactile statement piece for the colder months. Millicent’s signature approach to colour and texture transforms an everyday winter essential into something playful and distinctive.

Each scarf is made using dead-stock yarns, giving existing materials a new life and allowing Millicent to work with unexpected and limited colour combinations. The result is a beautifully considered piece of knitwear with its own individual character.

Millicent has such an instinctive way with colour, and we love that the use of dead-stock yarns means her designs are led, in part, by the materials already available. It makes each small run feel genuinely special.

FROM THE MAKER

Millicent Sanders is a textile designer specialising in knit, based in Yorkshire.

After studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, Millicent developed her practice across machine knitting, linking, hand knitting and crochet. Colour, texture and shape are at the heart of her work, alongside a fascination with the more technical, mathematical side of knitting.

Her process involves swatching and developing knitted fabrics, curating colour and texture combinations and creating patterns for custom and limited-edition pieces.

Dead-stock yarns feature throughout her work, allowing existing materials to be transformed into distinctive, small-batch knitwear full of colour and character.

To keep your scarf looking its best, gently hand wash, rinse thoroughly and air dry.

Do not tumble dry. Once dry, a gentle steam will help reshape and refresh the knit.
